Scrapbooking Ideas: 7 Scrapbooking For Kids Projects

When you think of scrapbooking you usually think of making scrapbook albums. How you tried using your scrapbooking materials for other projects? These project ideas are great for scrapbooking with kids.

1. Decorate jars and use them as small storage items in your children’s bedrooms, like marble collections or collectible game cards. Look in your scrapbooking supplies for stickers and rub-ons to embellish any size jar. Baby food jars and Mason jars work well for this project.

2. Make greeting cards when scrapbooking with your children. Nearly any type of scrapbooking material can be used for making cards. Children will love creating their own Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or birthday cards.

3. Holiday decorations are easy to make with scrapbooking materials. For example, Thanksgiving embellishments and cardstock can make name plates for the holiday table. Use your creativity and help your children make a centerpiece for the table out of paper and scrapbooking supplies.

4. Help your child keep a vacation journal. Before you go on vacation, create a scrapbook album to take along and have your child complete the album while traveling. Select a small album so it will be easy to pack in a child’s carry-on bag. Have pages pre-designed for some of the places you are planning to visit. You could even include some journaling prompts throughout the album. Some examples are “My Favorite Ride at Disneyland” or “The Best Thing about Staying in a Hotel.” Then attach a small plastic bag filled with colored pencils or markers, lots of vacation-themed stickers and some adhesive to attach memorabilia and photos from the trip. Let your child do the rest!

5. Scrapbooking for children is an opportunity to make gifts for your family. Flip through any scrapbooking magazine, and you are sure to see a gift project. Your child can use scrapbooking supplies to make picture frames, pencil holders, photo cubes, or note cards. Children also can design pre-made gift scrapbooks, like a recipe album for grandma or an ABC album for a new baby cousin.

6. Christmas ornaments make great scrapbooking projects for gifts. There is no limit to the kinds of ornaments you can make from scrapbooking supplies. Don’t be afraid to get messy and use glitter for this project.

7. Birthday parties and sleepovers are the perfect project for using your scrapbooking supplies with your children. Begin with crafting invitations out of paper and embellishments. Have enough materials to keep the same theme throughout the project. Take the time to create thank you notes at the same time. Then use your scrapbook materials to make napkin holders, name plates, centerpieces and party decorations. Finally, using the same theme, decorate goodie bags for your guests to take home.

You’ll find hours of fun in these scrapbooking for kids projects. In most cases, you have everything you need in your scrapbooking supplies right now. Scrapbooking for children is a chance to spend quality time with your kids and encourage their creativity and imaginations. Try one of these projects today with your child.

Take The Whole Family On An Alaska Salmon Fishing Vacation

For breathtaking scenery, miles and miles of pristine and crystal clear waterways with some of the best King and Silver salmon an Alaska salmon fishing vacation can’t be beat. Since Alaska is a very diverse state, with modern cities like Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau and quiet, fly in areas on the coast that can only be accessed by sea or air, there is an Alaska salmon fishing vacation for any family.

If you are planning an Alaska fishing vacation that will work for the whole family some important points to consider are:

Are there activities to keep the kids and spouse (and yourself) busy when not fishing?

Fishing vacations near to larger centers will usually be a better match for families where only one or two people in the family want to seriously fish, and the rest of the family want to vacation or sight see. Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Sitka and other centers all have tours, sight seeing opportunities, nature walks and even more modern conveniences such as museums, art galleries and shopping centers.

What are the amenities that the lodge or fishing resort can offer?

Fishing lodges typically are one of two different styles with regards to amenities. There are individual cabin style lodges that offer the opportunities for an Alaska salmon fishing vacation that is very private and secluded, or there is the larger, lodge or chalet style fishing resort that has more typical hotel style accommodations. Some resorts will provide central meals, restaurants and even lounges whereas others provide kitchens within the cabins and allow guests to bring in and cook their own food.

What type of fishing are you planning on doing?

If you have small children fishing from either a boat or the shore, or wading in for fly fishing all have safety issues that parents must discuss. If you are bringing children be sure to notify the lodge and guide so that they can have the correct safety equipment and fishing supplies for kids. Typically there will be a minimum age limit for children to come out on the boats, so talk to the guides in advance.

What is the cancellation policy and what conditions is it in effect?

Before booking one of the many Alaska salmon fishing vacations it is important to completely understand the refund policy for the vacation, including any advanced payment for guides or equipment rental. If there is insurance offered for cancellation and you are planning on traveling with children, it may be a good idea to consider the option of paying for travel insurance.

It is also important to do some research about the average temperature, rainfall, and the types of environmental conditions you can anticipate experiencing while on your Alaska salmon fishing adventure. Lodges and chalets will usually provide this information when you book, but there are also great online sites that give seasonal weather conditions to help with packing and planning.

Disney Vacation Home Rentals versus Hotels – The Truth About Convenience

When it comes to convenience, do Disney home rentals really compare favourably to the more traditional option of staying in a hotel? Many people have used hotel accommodation for many years, and claim that as far as convenience is concerned, having someone serve up your food and make the beds each day is preferable to self-catering in a private home. However, most people who make these claims are unlikely to have investigated the idea of renting a private home near Disney World for their vacation, because in terms of convenience, there’s really no argument.

Let’s be clear – hotels offer a great service if you’re by yourself or just with a partner, but when you throw children into the equation, the whole thing becomes a different ball game. The overwhelming majority of people who visit Disney World in Orlando, travel with their children, and for this reason taking time to consider the benefits of renting one of the many private Disney home rentals available within 15 minutes of the theme park could make a great deal of difference.

But surely renting an Orlando vacation home for your family means doing all the cooking and tidying yourself? Isn’t that less convenient? It’s easy to think so, yet let’s take a look at the typical day during a family’s vacation at Disney World. In a hotel you all need to be up in good time to catch breakfast, which means organizing your family in an almost military fashion to ensure everyone is ready and decent. Like most people you’ll probably also want to spend a few minutes tidying up the room, making sure personal items are packed away before the cleaning staff come to make the beds and clean the bathroom.

After breakfast, which is anything you like as long as it’s already on the menu, it’s off for the day. Of course, there’s no option to stay in your room, and little to entice you to do so anyway. Towards the end of your day, the children will have wound themselves up into a frenzy of excitement, already planning for what they want to do tomorrow, but all you can think about is hurrying everyone along to make sure you don’t miss dinner at the hotel – after all, you’ve paid a fortune for it.

After dinner you get the chance to squeeze into your hotel room and make a whole cup of tea with the complimentary tea bag you’ve been given, while your children turn the whole room into a tornado of toys, clothes, gifts and any item not nailed to the floor, jumping up and down and making your blood pressure rival the heights of the hotel bill. Eventually you manage to cajole your children into bed, giving you the chance to sit in silence for a couple of hours with the lights off, making sure you don’t disturb them as you enjoy all the things you can do in silence with the lights off and your children a few feet away.

Convenient? Not necessarily. Perhaps if this sounds all too horribly familiar it’s time to consider the alternative, and discover what Disney home rentals have to offer. The one overall luxury which private vacation properties have is that they are private. This in itself offers a great deal in convenience. Imagine being able to wake up and get up when you feel like it. Breakfast can be whatever you choose, and eaten wherever you like – no need to get dressed and made up first. If your house looks a bit of a state – who cares? It’s only yourselves who’ll see it, so why not just relax, enjoy yourselves and head off out for the day.

Whilst at Disney World you won’t need to be in a hurry to leave. If you want to stay late to watch the fireworks and evening parades, you can do so. If you book in at a hotel, you’ll miss these extra treats. But Disney home rentals mean that you can take full advantage of what you’ve really come for – the activities, fun and adventures. When you’ve had enough, you have the luxury of being able to relax at home in a way that’s simply not possible at a hotel.

With your children wound up like springs, bursting with the excitement of the day, why not let them run around in the garden or have fun in the pool? Which is more convenient? Crammed up together in a single hotel room, or relaxing by your own pool with your children happily wearing themselves out and dinner whenever you feel like it? If you choose to eat out, you can, otherwise, you can eat what you like, when you like.

After the children have worn themselves out and settled down in their own bedrooms, you’re free to enjoy widescreen TV, games consoles, your own pool and spa, or simply relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. If you have older children then they may want a turn on the games console, DVD player or TV, but there’ll still be the pool, spa, patio – or bedroom with their own TV and DVD player.

So if you’re thinking of heading to Disney World, Orlando, and aren’t sure whether hotels or Disney home rentals offer the best in convenience, remember that a single room and a timetable can’t possibly offer more convenience than a private home and flexibility.
